VINTAGE - 2011
APPELLATION - NAPA VALLEY, NAPA COUNTY, NORTH COAST, CALIFORNIA
Three generations of the Leonardini Family (Tre Leoni) are responsible for this expertly made proprietary blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Whitehall Lane and the Leonardini Family are known for making elegant, sophisticated Cabernet Sauvignons, and this blend stands proudly among them. Tre Leoni, while a serious blend, is a little fun and definitely delicious.
For the second year in a row, Napa Valley experienced an unseasonably cool growing season. The cool summer months of 2011 allowed for a slow and even ripening process in our valley-floor vineyards. September brought ample heat allowing the fruit to fully mature with sweet, ripe and flavorful characteristics.
The majority of the grapes for this proprietary blend were grown in the winery’s six Napa Valley vineyards. The fruit was fermented at an average of 85°F with gentle pump-overs for excellent flavor and
color extraction. The wine was aged in two-thirds French and one-third American oak barrels for 20 months. No single grape varietal makes up half of this wine but the three grapes making up the lion’s
share of the blend include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.
This ferociously fun blend is fruit forward and delicious. The aromas of red berry and sweet oak leap from the bottle. Flavors of ripe, jammy cherry and berry fill the mouth with velvety tannins lingering on the finish. Enjoy Tre Leoni with your next carnivorous meal or when gathering with family or friends.
The Tre Leoni is a pleasure to make. It allows me the freedom to blend three of Napa Valley’s top varietals, resulting in a consistently tasty wine year to year. Cabernet Sauvignon adds structure, Merlot creates a soft topend while the Syrah solidifies a big fat juicy mid-palate.
